STANDING RULES 

SaddleBrooke NINERS

Membership/Dues 

Annual dues, which include computerized handicap fee, are due and payable by December 1 for the following year and become delinquent after December 10.  A member whose dues are delinquent will be dropped from membership and will lose her Niners’ handicap.  Dues will be prorated on a quarterly basis.

 

Regular Play Day and Tournament Policies 

Eligibility: 

   New members may compete for prize money on a

          league day with a trend during the period between

          joining and the issuance of the player's first official

          handicap card.

 

    To be eligible to play in the Club Championship, Presidents Cup and/or Founders Cup a member must have played in six (6) previous league day events within the last twelve month period.

Prize money:

   The field will be divided into flights for competition. 

   Weekly prize money derived from dues will be divided between the flights. 

   The distribution of the moneys within the flights shall be at the discretion of the Tournament Chairperson.

 

Weekly play:

  1. The deadline for signing up to play is Tuesday  11:58 p.m. prior to the Tuesday play date.

  2. The Pro Shop handles all cancellations. Call after pairings have been posted to cancel.

  3. The Pairings Chairperson is in control of all pairings.  

  4. Scorecards must be attested by all players within a  grouping and turned into the Handicap Committee.

  5. No adjustments will be allowed after the card has been submitted.

  6. Each player is responsible for attesting her own score, dating with the correct date, adjusting her own score and posting within 48 hrs.

  7. A player will be disqualified for claiming a higher handicap or failing to sign her card or for not posting.

Tournaments:

   The Club Championship shall be a multi-day competition with two low gross winners in each flight. The player with the lowest overall gross score will be the club

         champion.     The flights will be determined by the tournament chairperson using the handicap effective on the first day of the multi-day tournament.  No change in the flights

          will be made during the course of the tournament.

 

   The President's Cup will be an annual event with a     format to be decided on by the President and the        Tournament Chairperson. 

 

   The Founders Cup Tournament – Winner will be determined by the best overall low net score and given a special award.  Other flight winners will receive weekly sweeps money.  If the are more than 72 members signed up for the event there will be a

         lottery.

 

   The tournaments listed above are the responsibility of the Tournament Chairperson. 

 

 Special Events

    The Invitational will be an annual event.   .. Invitations will be extended to other nine-hole women's groups.

        Tournament eligibility will apply. Automatic inclusion for the SaddleBrooke Niners Invitational is granted to the Invitational Chairperson(s), Invitational Committee Members,   Executive Board, and Standing Committee chairpersons.

 

    LAGOS is the Niners responsibility on uneven years.

 

   Outside Invitationals – A signup sheet will be posted. A lottery will be held, if necessary. When a member has been selected to attend an outside invitational, she will not be 

         included in subsequent     lotteries for the remainder of the calendar year until all other interested members have had an opportunity to participate in an outside tournament. 

 

   Ladies Choice – An annual event.  Niners extend invitation to a male guest of their choice (choice cannot be their husband). 

  Sputters Day Annual event– An invitation will be extended to the SaddleBrooke Ladies Sputters to play on a league day with the Niners.

  Rally for the Cure– The Rally for the Cure will be an annual event in support of Breast Cancer Awareness.

 

  These Special Events may hold a lottery to select the field if more than the maximum allowed number of players sign up. Chairpersons will be appointed by the President and

        approved by The Executive Board..

 

Awards

Birdies: Members will be given one lifetime birdie pin for each of the 27 holes.

 

Breaking 50, 45, & 40:  A member will be give one lifetime award upon breaking 50, 45 and 40.  These are awarded only if done on our home courses of SaddleBrooke, Tucson, and/or Catalina and on a Niners league day or league event.

 

Most improved player:  The USGA formula will be used to determine the winner.  To be eligible, a player must be a member of the club as of January 1. A player must post at least 20 scores from January 1 through November 1 of the current year with at least 10 of those scores on Niner league day events.

           

Ace of the Month/Year: One play day each month will be used as a low net game to determine the Ace of the Month.  A playoff among the monthly winners will determine the Ace of the Year.

        

Hole in One: Any Niner who makes a hole in one on a league event day will be awarded a pin and a $50 Golf Shop credit.  A Niner who makes a hole in one on a non- league day will receive a pin upon providing the Handicap chair with a copy of an attested score card.

 

Duties of the Officers

 

The President will:

   Preside at all meetings.

   Direct the activities of the Niners.

   Call meetings as necessary.

   Appoint committee chairs and the parliamentarian with the approval of the Executive Board and serve as an ex-officio member on all committees.

   Be the official representative (or appoint a delegate) of the Niners and attend SaddleBrooke Golf committee meetings.

   Be an authorized signature on the Niners bank accounts.

 

The Vice-President will:

   Perform the duties of the President in her absence.

   Serve as the membership chairperson.

   Assist the President in the general performance of her duties.

   Be an authorized signature on the Niners bank accounts.

   Be agreeable to become President in the following year.

 

The Secretary will:

   Record and retain accurate minutes of all meetings of the Niners and all Executive Board meetings.

   Conduct all correspondence.

   Be an authorized signature on the Niners bank accounts.

   Post a copy of the minutes of all general and Executive Board meetings.

 

The Treasurer will:

   Be the custodian of all funds of the Niners.

   Collect moneys and deposit them in an institution approved by the Executive Board.

   Submit a written monthly report to the Executive Board.

   Disburse all funds.

   Be an authorized signature on the Niners bank accounts.

  

The Tournament Chairperson will:

Be responsible for all league and tournament play for the SaddleBrooke 9-Hole Golf League (SWGA-9). The chairperson also determines the winners for each league play day and the dispersing of all money.

  ANNUALLY

1.      Direct the following special events:

        State Medallion:  Jan., Feb., Mar., and April

        Club Championship:  March or April

Ace of the Month:  Once a month during league play through October.

        Ace of the Year: November

Founders Cup:  April or at the discretion of the President.

        President’s Cup:  August or September

 

2.   Purchase awards/trophies to be presented at the Annual Awards Luncheon.  Can be coordinated with Handicaps chairperson who also purchases awards/trophies for other categories.

 

QUARTERLY

1.      Develop schedule of games to be played.  Must be coordinated with the currents year’s schedule provided by the Club president. Prior to establishing courses, submit to board and appropriate Committee members for comments and/or suggestions, if any.

2.      Meet with the Golf Professional and the 18ers Tournament Chairperson to determine league day courses.

3.      When the schedule is completed, post on the bulletin board and web site, copy the following:

        Golf Professional

        9ers President and Board

        9ers Pairings Chairperson

        9ers Handicap Chairperson

        9ers Publicity Person

        9ers web site

 

WEEKLY

1.      Prepare material as required, such as game instructions with sample scorecard.  Provide game instructions to players on league day, (Give to Ranger to distribute).  Also give a copy to the pairing Chairman to post with the pairings.)

 

2.      Determine winners according to the game.  Prepare the list of winners with scores and prize winnings.  First, second, third and fourth places are awarded with each flight.  Player can only win once per game (i.e. a player cannot win both Low Gross and Low Net).

 

Standing Committee Chairpersons’ Duties

 

The Membership Chairperson will:

   Meet with prospective members, establish eligibility for membership, and collect dues.

   Hold orientation meetings for all new members.

   Arrange pairings for the new member's first league play day. New members will play with Membership    Chairperson or a designee.

   Verify tournament eligibility for new members.

   Arrange with the pro shop to collect fees for members wanting only a nine-hole handicap.

 

The Handicap Chairperson will:

  Validate score cards on league play days.

  Issue Penalty Scores for failing to post on League days    

       and  Sunday Couples events.

  Maintain all member scoring records and assure that

       posted scores are correct.

  Assure that all Handicaps issued by our Club are               

      accurate and issued according to the specifications of  

      the USGA Handicap System.

  Post current handicaps on the bulletin board.

  Maintain a record of all birdies, broke 50, 45 &40, and

      Holes-in One.  Present awards at the luncheon

     meetings. Validate scorecards on league play days.

 

The Pairings Chairperson will:

   Be responsible for weekly sign up materials.

   Establish and post weekly pairings.

   Maintain a cumulative record of the membership pairings for the year.

 

The Rules Chairperson will:

   Act as the clubs resource person for the rules.

   Arrange rules seminars as needed.

   Provide written information to the membership regarding commonly asked rule questions at scheduled meetings and in the newsletter.

     

The Ringer Board Chairperson will:

   Update cumulative low scores of members on a weekly basis throughout the year.

   Collect and record participation fees.

 

The Publicity Chairpersons will:

   Newsletter Editor - Publish Niners newsletter monthly,

       address, and distribute to distribution chairperson.

   Distribution Chairperson - Distribute newsletter to each member with the help Unit representatives.

   Newspaper Publicity Chairperson- Provide pictures and copy to the Saddlebag Notes and the SaddleBrooke Progress.

  

The Social Chairperson will:

   Be responsible for the luncheon arrangements for all   regular meetings.

   Arrange luncheon and decorations for the annual/awards meeting in December.

   Act as a resource person to the chairpersons of special events in the arranging of luncheons.

 

The Historian will:

   Take pictures of club activities and awards luncheon (excluding the Invitational).

   Keep an album recording the activities of the Niners.

 

The Bulletin Board person will:

   Organize and maintain the club bulletin boards in the Club Room.

 

The Sunshine person will:

   Send cards and notes to those in need of support, i.e., illness or bereavement.

     

The Outside Tournament person will:

   Post Outside Invitationals and hold a lottery if necessary to choose Niner members to attend.

   Contact our members who have been chosen and collect their checks and handicap information.

   Reply to outside clubs with list of members that are

       going to attend and send checks and handicap information.

 

The Web Site person will:

   Maintain and update the Niners Web site.

   Web site used only for Niners' information.

 

The Email Communication Person will:

   Email Niners' news to Niner members who wish to be on the email list. 

   Email is to be used only for Niners' information AND use SaddleBrooke Niners “e” News in the subject line to identify the email as an official Niners email. 

 

Transition of Duties

 

   Retiring officers and committee chairpersons shall  turn over to their successor materials related to the    performance of their duties and will be available to assist in a smooth transition from one year to the next  year. A detailed description of the duties should be included in the materials.

     

Amending of the Standing Rules

 

Standing Rules may be amended by a simple majority of the Executive Board.
