It is
the duty and responsibility of the Handicap Committee to issue handicaps
and to monitor those handicaps for our club following the guidelines of
the USGA Handicap System. The Handicap Committee shall verify that all
acceptable scores are reported for handicap purposes, and that recorded
scores are accurate.
It is
the responsibility of each member of our club to post all scores within
48 hours of finishing a round.
League Play: A member of the Handicap Committee will check the
posted scores of the members who play in league competition on Tuesdays
to compare those scores posted with the scores recorded on the
scorecards.
Non-league Play: Random checks will be conducted on non-league days
to confirm that members are posting all scores. These postings will be
checked against the "corrected starters sheet" on any given day.
If the
committee member finds a posting error she will correct the error and
post on the bulletin board a list of members who have made errors. If
a member fails to post on a league day or Sunday couples,
that member will be contacted by a committee member and will be reminded
of the importance of posting all scores and will be informed of the
penalty of not posting a score.
A PENALTY SCORE WILL BE ASSESSED
EACH TIME A MEMBER FAILS TO POST A SCORE ON LEAGUE DAY AND/OR SUNDAY
COUPLES. All other errors will be corrected without penalty.
What is a Penalty Score?
A penalty score is your
lowest round score. It appears like any other score on your record. It
is now on the top of your last 20 posts.
Every time you post
another score it moves down a step until it goes off the bottom, so
after your next 20 rounds it will be gone.
You can recognize the
Penalty in your list of scores as it shows with a P rather
than H for home.
How to
Correct Posting Errors or Posting Twice: If you realize that
you made an error after posting to the system, you can correct the post in the
RED BOOK in the computer room at the clubhouse. The book has our name on the
front. In the book, simply fill in the information, i.e. there is a space
to write the correct post, name, date, course, and reason and that is where you
can write that you posted twice.
